Family texts push you into night shifts at Ember Barn, a fast-food restaurant across the block. The leave fund needs about a thousand dollars. The schedule is real. The customers are real. Your phone never stops.Each night runs like work: clock in, restore power if it fails, cook, package fries and burgers, fill drinks, take orders, and try to get home. Between shifts you live in a small apartment, check messages and email, sleep, and wake up for the next night. Five nights. One week that keeps folding in on itself.The horror is not in jump scares.
